After the initial month, your dose may increase to 0.5 mg once weekly for 4 weeks. Your physician will assess your tolerance for the medication during this period and may increase the dose.
If you’re tolerating treatment well and need more support, the next step is 1 mg once a week, taken for a minimum of four weeks before considering another increase.
For additional support, your doctor may recommend 1.7 mg as the next stage. This dose is also taken for at least four weeks, allowing your system to adapt before deciding whether to continue upward.

Follow your provider’s guidance. Wegovy® is taken once weekly, and the starting dose is usually 0.25 mg for the first four weeks. This dose helps your body adjust before increasing to 0.5 mg. Higher doses, like 1 mg or 2.4 mg, may be prescribed if appropriate.
Use proper injection technique. Inject Wegovy® under the skin of the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate injection sites each week and avoid using the exact same spot repeatedly.
Stay consistent. Take your dose on the same day each week. If you miss a dose, you can take it within 5 days. If more than 5 days pass, skip the missed dose and resume your normal schedule.
Do not mix with insulin. If you use insulin, inject the two medications separately. They may be given in the same body region, but not right next to each other.
Store it correctly. Before first use, keep Wegovy® refrigerated. After first use, it can be kept refrigerated or at room temperature below 30°C for up to 8 weeks. Keep the pen cap on to protect from light and remove the needle after each injection.
